King-sized beds are the largest that you can find. With 76” x 80”, they are the perfect bed for couples, giving you the extra room needed for a comfortable night’s sleep. They are even large enough if you let your pets sleep with you, or when your kids want to jump in. This size gives you all the room you need for a perfect sleep. It truly is the perfect bed for couples, expenses and other small disadvantages aside.

Many counselors agree that couples who sleep comfortably have less marital problems, as they aren’t as irritable during the day. The king-sized bed ensures this, with plenty of room so no one feels cramped and personal space if there is need for it. While it won’t solve all of the problems, it will at least help in the way of proper rest at night.

Scientists also agree that more room on the bed is good. It allows the body to stretch and move around naturally as you sleep, keeping your muscles from cramping and making sure that you can freely adjust your position as needed, even in deep sleep. You will feel properly rested when you awake in the morning, which helps you function better during the day.

Even with the luxury of the added elbow room, the biggest down side of these beds is the price. Being the biggest out there, they are also the most expensive. A king-sized mattress of good quality would cost you at least $600- $800 dollars by itself. Even the bedding is expensive, whether it is sheets or blankets, and you would need at least three standard sized pillows to go from one end to the other. This means that even years into the future, you would still be paying lots of money for it, just buying new sheets and bedspreads as the old ones either wear out or need an upgrade when you redecorate.

Another downside is that it’s extremely heavy to move. This makes it difficult to put it on second floors, and is also complicated to handle if you move to a new home. Even just flipping it is quite a chore, and in most cases, takes at least two people to do. Not only is it heavy, but it’s also awkward to hold, and you could hurt yourself trying to carry or move it.

Some people may also find it troublesome if they have a smaller room to put it in. Because of its size, any room smaller than a standard master bedroom would make it ridiculous to even consider, and even at that, you still wouldn’t have very much space to put a lot of furniture. This makes it almost impossible for people living in small homes and apartments to even think about purchasing one. If someone does try to fit it in a room that is just too small, there’s a good chance that you won’t have any room too even walk, let alone room for other furniture.
